Why exactly do you love Green Day? For myself, Billie's poetry absolutely blows me away. He articulates thoughts for me that I can't articulate myself. Among my favorite songs, lyrically speaking, are Jesus of Suburbia, Homecoming, Give Me Novacaine, Armatage Shanks, No Pride, F.O.D., Stuart and the Ave, Castaway, Deadbeat Holiday...I could go on, but I'll stop here. American Idiot, the album, was released at a time in my life when I couldn't have felt more disenfranchised and disillusioned with the state of this country. I felt Green Day gave a voice to those of us in my position, and made me feel so much less alienated than I had been feeling, and for that I will always be grateful to them.
